Art and Craft in Pembrokeshire

The beautiful scenery of Pembrokeshire has inspired artists and craftsmen through centuries, and their modern day counterparts have not forgotten the old skills. You can see many craftsmen or women at work in their workshops or find their products in local galleries and gift shops.

Pembrokeshire Craft Makers

Pembrokeshire Craft Makers is an independent society of makers and artists, founded over 25 years ago to promote and market its members' work.

Their aim is to provide a lively and stimulating environment in which creativity,
originality and craftsmanship can flourish. Exhibitions are held at various times throughout Pembrokeshire. Go to for more information.


Pembrokeshire is home to many painters - some professional, some just enjoying painting as a hobby. A great variety of work can be seen at local exhibitions and most tastes and pockets are catered for. Have a look at for the work of Olivia Argent, or at for the work of Adrian James. He also holds regular painting classes if you are starting out.


Most towns in Pembrokeshire have at least one Gallery where the works of talented local artists are displayed. The Golden Sheaf in Narberth, The Gatehouse Gallery in Pembroke, The Dockside Gallery in Milford Haven and The Naomi Tydeman Gallery in Tenby are just some of the places where you can admire (and purchase!) the work of local artists.



A number of potteries can be found around Pembrokeshire and each of them has it's own unique style. Local collectors will easily be able to identify the source of a local piece of pottery and many visitors to the county find new and imaginative designs to add to their collections every year.


Spinning, knitting and weaving are crafts which are still very much alive in a range of workshops in Pembrokeshire. At the Preseli Mohair Centre, Dolau Isaf Farm, Mynachlog-ddu, you can see Angora goats grazing right next to the showroom where the finished products are on offer. In Freystrop near Haverfordwest Riitta Sinkkonen-Davies has the most unusual and striking display of linen weaving. She also offers tuition for individuals and small groups.


Pembrokeshire has a number of museums where items of local history, art and technology are on display.
