The Beach at Freshwater East

Amroth Beach at high tide
Freshwater East Beach

The Beach at Freshwater East is a wide, sandy beach backed by low dunes and surrounding headland. The beach is popular for water sports, in particular surfing, sailing and swimming, and for fishing. The beach is easily reached by car and has a car park with 80 spaces (charges may apply) at the west end of the beach, and also a slipway for launching boats.

Amenities include a holiday park with Pub and Shop just accross the road from the beach, and Freshwater East village is aproximately half a mile away.

Freshwater East beach has Green Coast Seaside Awards. The green coast award is similar to a Blue Flag Award but for rural beaches. Blue flag status requires a extensive facilities such as lifeguards, dog controls and refreshment facilities as well as the highest level of water quality.

Rural beaches like Freshwater East have the same level of water quality but because of their rural location, don't have many of the facilities on the shore. The beaches are just as good but they aren't spoilt by unsightly development.
